They're back! LA Galaxy players report for preseason

CARSON, Calif.  – The LA Galaxy began training for the 2016 season on Friday, Jan. 22, at StubHub Center. The team will play two preseason exhibition games at StubHubCenter – against FC Shirak (Jan. 30) and Club Tijuana (Feb. 9) – in preparation for the two-legged quarterfinal series of the 2015-16 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (SCCL) against Santos Laguna beginning Wednesday, Feb. 24, at StubHub Center. The Galaxy will kick off the 2016 MLS Regular Season on Sunday, March 6, at StubHub Center against D.C. United (7 p.m. PT, UniMás).

The Galaxy host Santos Laguna on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at StubHub Center beginning at 7 p.m. PT in the first leg of the series. In the second leg of the SCCL quarterfinals, the Galaxy will travel to Estadio Corona Torreon in Mexico to face Laguna on Tuesday, March 1, at 7 p.m. PT.

Tickets for both the Galaxy’s Champions League and MLS opening match at StubHub Center will go on sale beginning Tuesday, Jan. 19 at www.lagalaxy.com/tickets. Tickets for the Galaxy’s preseason exhibitions against FC Shirak on Saturday, Jan. 30 and Club Tijuana on Tuesday, Feb. 9, can be purchased now at www.lagalaxy.com/tickets/singlegame or by calling 877-3GALAXY (342-5299).

LA are set to make their fourth trip to the CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinals. In all-time SCCL competition, the Galaxy are 15-8-5, scoring 52 goals and allowing 32. In SCCL matches on the road all-time, the Galaxy are 4-5-5. The Galaxy continue to lead all U.S. teams in SCCL wins (15) and goals scored (52) all time. LA are 6-2-2 in their last 10 SCCL games overall with five shutouts during that span, and 1-3-3 in their last seven SCCL away matches.

Forward Robbie Keane is the Galaxy’s all-time SCCL scorer with nine goals and forwards Jack McBean and Alan Gordon are second, having tallied five goals each in SCCL play.
