CIF Plans to Alternate CIF Basketball and Football Championship Sites in the North and South
CARSON, Calif. - California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Executive Director Roger Blake today announced AEG Facilities' The Home Depot Center in Carson will serve as host for the CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games for another two years, 2013-14.
\"The CIF is pleased to continue hosting the Football Championship Bowl Games at The Home Depot Center,\" said CIF Executive Director Roger Blake. \"We are excited to be holding this event in a world-class facility which allows for a memorable experience for our student-athletes.\"
The Home Depot Center is no stranger to hosting the CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games, having been the host site since the event's inception in 2006. The 125-acre multi-sport facility has been hosting high school football competition since its inaugural year, in 2003, when it hosted the CIF Southern Section Division Semifinals and Finals for the first time.
\"We are thrilled to extend our partnership with the CIF and to remain the home of the CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games through 2014,\" said The Home Depot Center General Manager Katie Pandolfo. \"High school football in December has become a Carson tradition, and The Home Depot Center and our community look forward to hosting players, coaches, families and football fans for two more years.\"
Additionally, the CIF will begin the planning process of alternating the CIF State Basketball Championships and CIF State Football Championship Bowl Games sites beginning in 2015 in Northern and Southern California. This planned rotational schedule will allow the student-athletes and fans, in all parts of the state, the opportunity to share in the excitement of CIF Championship events.
