ACTION PACKED MAY AWAITS THE GALAXY: After falling in a 2-1 loss to FC Dallas on the first day of May, the Galaxy will return home to continue their busiest month of the season. In one of the most anticipated games of the season, the Galaxy will host league rival, the New York Red Bulls, this Sat., May 7 at The Home Depot Center. The match, which will kickoff at 8 p.m., will bring international stars Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez to LA to take on the Galaxy. The following week, the Galaxy will host Sporting Kansas City on Sat, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. The match is also Toro Night, celebrating California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) students, faculty, administration and alumni. Special rates for the CSUDH community are available, as well as a special Toro Rally Towel promotion. Later this month, the club will remain in Southern California as the away team, facing Chivas USA in the SuperClásico on Sat., May 21 at 7 p.m. On Wed., May 25, the Galaxy will host the Houston Dynamo at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. Fans can also catch the Galaxy Academy's U-16 and U-18 teams three times this month at The Home Depot Center. The teams will be in action on May 7, May 14, and May 15 with games U-16 games at 1 p.m. and U-18 games at 3:30 p.m. Tickets and parking for all Academy games are free. CHIVAS USA HOSTS LA GALAXY IN SUPERCLÁSICO ON MAY 21: After an unbeaten run through April, Chivas USA will take to the road for three of their four games in May. On Sat., May 21 at 7:00 p.m. the team returns to The Home Depot Center to host the first SuperClásico of the season. The rivalry match against the Los Angeles Galaxy's David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and Juan Pablo Angel is one of the biggest games of the year for the Red-and-White. BOXING RETURNS TO CARSON NEXT SATURDAY: On b will defend his World Boxing Association (WBA) Super Middleweight world title against European superstar Arthur Abraham to kick off the Super Six World Boxing Classic Semifinals, presented by Goossen-Tutor Promotions, at The Home Depot Center. Also on the card is heavyweight Cristobal Arreola, who will fight Nagy Aguilera of the Dominican Republic. U.S. WOMEN ROLL TOWARDS 2011 FIFA WOMEN'S WORLD CUP: After a busy April at The Home Depot Center for the U.S. Youth Women's National Teams with three training camps, the U.S. U-15 Girls' National Team will be in action from May 8-15. Meanwhile, the full U.S. Women's National Team is prepping for the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup in Germany with camps and events across the United States and the world. The USA will face Japan on May 14 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio (6:30 p.m. ET on Fox Soccer and Fox Deportes) and May 18 at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. (7 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and Univision) before its Women's World Cup Send-Off Match against Mexico on June 5 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J. (2 p.m. on ESPN2 and Univision). The 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, being held in nine German venues, starts on June 26 and runs through July 17. The USA kicks off the tournament on June 28 against Korea DPR in Dresden. THE HOME DEPOT CENTER TO HOST 2012 PARA-CYCLING TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: In April at an L.A. LIVE press conference, the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) announced that the 2012 Para-cycling Track World Championships will be held at The Home Depot Center Velodrome Feb. 10-12, 2012. The competition will welcome approximately 230 athletes from 30 countries and serve as the final qualifying event for U.S. athletes to be nominated to the 2012 U.S. Paralympic Cycling Team that will compete at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London. The 2012 event marks the first time since 1998, and just the second time ever, that the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships will be held in the United States; The Home Depot Center hosted the 2005 UCI Junior World Championships and the 2004 Elite World Championships and the 1998 UCI Para-cycling Road and Track World Championships were held in Colorado Spring, Colo. TOP WOMEN'S TENNIS PLAYERS TO COMPETE IN THE USTA WOMEN'S $50,000 CHALLENGER: The USTA Training Center-West at The Home Depot Center will play host to some of the world's best tennis players from May 23-29 for the USTA Pro Circuit Women's $50,000 Challenger, the only $50,000-level women's event in the state of California. Last year's event featured two young Americans reaching the final, as 2008 US Open girls' singles champion Coco Vandeweghe, who trains full-time at the USTA Training Center-West, defeated Stanford University freshman Kristie Ahn in straight sets. From May 9-12, the USTA Training Center-West will host a Qualifying Wild Card Tournament for the $50,000 event. Players who are entered include California residents Gabby Andrews, who is currently No.2 in the USTA Girls' 18s National Standings, Mayo Hibi, Ashley Dai and Monica Turewicz.
