THE WEIGHT IS OVER: Boxing fans, the wait is over; world championship boxing returns to Carson tomorrow, featuring Paul 'The Punisher' Williams in a 12-round super welterweight clash with Kermit 'The Killer' Cintron. Williams will fight over his weight, at 147 pounds, in HBO World Championship Boxing's headliner dubbed 'The Weight is Over,' presented by Goosen Tutor Productions, in association with DiBella Entertainment. Williams first fought at The Home Depot Center in 2006, where he stopped undefeated Walter Matthysse and decisioned Antonio Margarito in 2007 for the WBO Welterweight Title in his two previous efforts at The Home Depot Center. Tickets are available for as low as $25, with VIP floor seats priced at $200. Other tickets in the 8,000-seat outdoor stadium are available at $50 and $100 at all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.Ticketmaster.com, as well as The Home Depot Center Box Office, open today until 6 p.m., and opening tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. The first undercard bout will start at 5:00 p.m.

LA GALAXY HOST TORONTO FC AND BOCA JUNIORS IN MAY, LANDON DONOVAN WORLD CUP SEND-OFF MATCH: For Landon Donovan's last game with the club prior to the joining the U.S. Men's National Team for their World Cup training camp, the LA Galaxy face Toronto FC on Sat., May 15 at The Home Depot Center. The first 15,000 fans in attendance will get a commemorative Landon Donovan poster. After the game, the Galaxy captain will be presented with banners signed by the fans that wish Donovan and the U.S. National Team good luck in South Africa. After the presentation, Landon will address the fans. The Galaxy enters the month of May with an MLS-best record of 6-0-1 and with Donovan, Edson Buddle and Donovan Ricketts off to impressive starts to the campaign. Kickoff for the match against Toronto FC is set for 7:30 p.m. Also, this month, the Galaxy will host legendary Argentinean club Boca Juniors. Midfielder Juan Roman Riquelme and Sebastaian Battaglia and forward Nicolas Gaitan and the rest of Boca Juniors will take on the Galaxy at The Home Depot Center on Sunday, May 23 at 5 p.m. Tickets for both games, and all 2010 LA Galaxy home matches, are on sale now, with tickets starting at just $20. CHIVAS USA HOSTS A PAIR OF HOME MATCHES DURING A BUSY MONTH OF MAY: Chivas USA kicked May off with a successful road swing through Chicago and New England, where the Red-and-White were able to earn a 1-1 draw at the Chicago Fire on May 1 before taking its biggest-ever road victory, a 4-0 win at the New England Revolution on May 5. The Red-and-White return to their home field tomorrow, May 8, for a special Armed Forces Night celebration, which will help raise money for the USO of Los Angeles and San Diego. The festivities will include a special camouflage jersey worn by the team, a Naval swearing-in ceremony at ChivaTown prior to the match against the Houston Dynamo, a Marine coin toss picture, a first kick ceremony with a chief Navy officer, a color guard, and much more. After hitting the road at the Columbus Crew on Saturday, May 15, for a match to be broadcast live at 4:30 p.m. PT on Prime Ticket, KWHY, and W Radio 690 AM, Chivas USA returns home to face defending MLS Champion Real Salt Lake on Sat., May 22 at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. The Red-and-White then close the month with a visit to D.C. United on May 29, which will also be broadcast live at 4:30 p.m. PT on Prime Ticket, KWHY, and W Radio 690 AM. Fans looking to come out to the games should look out for 5-game, 10-game, or full Season Seat ticket options, with prices starting as low as $10 per game. SPARKS SUNSET SHOWDOWN NEXT MONTH: In June, the tennis stadium will be transformed into a full-sized WNBA basketball court, when the Los Angeles Sparks host their first-ever outdoor match against the Seattle Storm on Sat., June 5 at 8:00 p.m. The 'Sunset Showdown' is part of the Sparks' 'Get Outside & Play LA' campaign, to promote health and wellness for the Los Angeles community. The June 5 game marks only the second outdoor WNBA game in the league's history. U.S. U-20 WNT and U.S. U-18 WNT IN Carson for Training Camps: Preparations for the 2010 FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup will kick into full gear in May as the U.S. Under-20 and Under-18 Women's National Teams will hold training camps concurrently at The Home Depot Center. The U-20s will train from May 8-15 during which time they will face the New Zealand U-20 Women's National Team on May 13 at 4 p.m. and May 15 at Noon, while the U-18s will be in camp from May 9-16. U.S. U-20 head coach Jill Ellis is in the process of choosing a 21-player roster that will represent the USA at the 2010 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Germany being held from July 13-Aug. 1 in four venues. The U.S. U-20s will head down to the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista for a week after leaving Carson, where they will face Mexico twice. The full U.S. Women's National Team will not be returning to The Home Depot Center in the near future as the players are engaged in league play in WPS, but the U.S. women do have a friendly match on May 22 against Germany at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The match between the world's top-two women's soccer nations kicks off at 3 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN. VELODROME HOSTS TRINIDAD & TOBAGO, OPEN TRAINING AND CLASSES: Throughout the month of May, the Velodrome will host Opening Training Sessions for the public on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, will host training for elite riders, plus \"Roger's Sessions,\" for all skill levels, taught by Velodrome Director and former Olympian Roger Young. Other classes are taught by The Home Depot Center's own 2008 Olympian Adam Duvendeck and four-time World Champion and Olympic Bronze medalist Connie Paraskevin. Also this month, the national cycling team from Trinidad & Tobago will train at the Velodrome, led by Erin Hartwell, a two-time Olympic silver medalist. MAY IS TENNIS MONTH - USTA MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CHALLENGERS BRING THE COUNTRY'S TOP RISING STARS TO CARSON: The USTA Training Center-West at The Home Depot Center will play host to a number of events during 'May Is Tennis Month.' From May 22-30, the facility will host the 2010 LA Tennis Open Men's & Women's Challenger, which is comprised of two USTA Pro Circuit $50,000 events. Houston's Michael Russell and Canada's Valerie Tetreault won the singles titles at last year's event, which regularly features many of the country's top up-and-coming players. The facility will host a Qualifying Wild Card Tournament this weekend, which will provide the winners a wild card into the qualifying draws for the Challenger at the end of the month. The USTA Training Center-West will also host two USTA Player Development Camps for players born in 2001; a boys' camp on May 7 and a girls' camp on May 21. Participants will train with USTA National Coaches and will work on fundamentals such as movement and ball recognition.
