LA GALAXY CONTINUE SEASON WITH THREE GAMES IN JUNE: The LA Galaxy will host three games at The Home Depot Center this month, including two all-important battles against Western Conference foes. The club will also continue their preparations for their annual Fourth of July game against the New England Revolution and their upcoming international friendlies with AC Milan and Barcelona. The month of June begins with another international friendly, this one against Costa Rican powers Club Sport Herediano on Tuesday, June 9. A 21-time Costa Rican Primera Division champion and this season's runner-up, Herediano, features many of the regions top players, including six members of the Costa Rican National Team. Four days later, on Saturday, June 13, the Galaxy return to MLS play with a game against Real Salt Lake at The Home Depot Center. This is the second and final meeting of the year between the two teams and the game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Prior to and during this game, the Galaxy will be collecting toys for the Summer Santa program sponsored by JAKKS Cares™, the philanthropic division of Malibu-based toymaker, JAKKS Pacific, Inc., Fox Sports WEST and PRIME TICKET. The Galaxy are encouraging fans to support the endeavor by donating new, unwrapped toys at any of the four entrances to The Home Depot Center prior to this game. The first 200 fans to donate will receive an autographed player card from Galaxy defender Todd Dunivant. All fans will receive a Buy-One-Get-One Free ticket offer and a 25% discount at The Home Depot Center Team LA store for the Galaxy's June 28 game. Two weeks later, on Sunday, June 28, following a trip up north to take on the San Jose Earthquakes in Oakland on June 20, the Galaxy return home for their final game of the month against the Houston Dynamo. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2, starting at 7 p.m. The Galaxy and Dynamo played to a 2-2 draw at The Home Depot Center last year in one of the most exciting games of the 2008 MLS season. SUPERLIGA 2009, THIS WEEKEND'S MATCHUP VS. SEATTLE SOUNDERS FC HIGHLIGHT BUSY JUNE FOR CHIVAS USA: Chivas USA remains in first place in Major League Soccer entering the month of June. The team kicks off the month by facing expansion Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, June 6, at 7:30 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. The game is Disneyland Resort Night, with free giveaways courtesy of The Disneyland Resort, as well as a special halftime moment featuring popular Disney characters. Chivas USA will then have back-to-back road games at Houston Dynamo and Columbus Crew, before returning home to open SuperLiga 2009, which pits top soccer teams from Mexico and the USA against each other for regional bragging rights. Chivas USA opens Group A against Mexican side, Tigres UANL on Saturday, June 20 at 7:00 pm. at The Home Depot Center. The team then travels to face MLS foes, the Chicago Fire June 23, before returning home to host San Luis of Mexico on Saturday, June 27 at 7:00 p.m. at The Home Depot Center. LOS ANGELES SOL TO HOST FREEDOM SATURDAY: The Los Angeles Sol, entering June in first place in the WPS standings, will play four home games at The Home Depot Center this month. This Sunday, June 7, the club will host the Washington Freedom and U.S. National Team star Abby Wambach. After a road game, the Sol returns to Carson to face FC Gold Pride (Bay Area) on Sunday, June 21. The team concludes its monthly schedule at home on June 27 with a \"brunch special\" - a 10:00 a.m. home game. GET YOUR RUNNING SHOES ON: The Home Depot Center is hosting its first-ever \"Home Depot Center 5K/10K Run\" across the 125-acre multi-sport campus on Father's Day - Sunday, June 21 at 8:00 a.m. to benefit The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation. The 5K/10K run/walk course highlights the grounds on The Home Depot Center that starts and finishes at the 10,000-seat track & field facility, and includes running through the 27,0000-seat soccer stadium, 8,000-seat tennis stadium, as well as parts of the dirt trail along Avalon Blvd. and Victoria St. The $35 registration fee ($45 day-of) includes tickets to two exciting summer sporting events at The Home Depot Center - June 28 LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo and June 21 Los Angeles Sol vs. FC Gold Pride. U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM UPDATE: While the month of June is a busy one for the U.S. youth Women's National Teams, with the U-17, U-20 and U-23 WNTs in training camps, none are scheduled for The Home Depot Center. The full U.S. Women's National Team will not come together until mid-July for two matches against Canada, on July 19 in Rochester and July 22 in Charleston, N.C. The July 19 match should feature the homecoming of U.S. star Abby Wambach who will have the chance to score her historic 100th career international goal in front of her hometown fans in a match broadcast live on ESPN at Noon. SUMMER RACING HEATS UP AT THE HOME DEPOT CENTER VELODROME: The Home Depot Center Velodrome and the LA Velodrome Racing Association (LAVRA) will host three races this month. Next weekend, June 13-14, the facility will host the SCNCS Masters Track Championships for riders over 30 years of age in categories grouped in five-year ages. The following week, the Friday Night Training Races series continues on Friday, June 19 featuring many of the best Elite and Junior athletes who train at The Home Depot Center Velodrome. And, on Sunday, June 28, LAVRA presents the Junior Omniums in preparation for the Junior Nationals at The Home Depot Center Velodrome July 2-5. Out-of-town riders who do not train regularly on the track will have the opportunity to test themselves against the best riders in the U.S. in advance of Nationals. USTA NJTL to Host Coaches Workshop in June: The USTA will host National Junior Tennis & Learning Network Coaches Workshop on Saturday, June 6, at the USTA Training Center-West at The Home Depot Center. Over 100 tennis coaches from throughout Southern California will attend the workshop and discuss tennis programming for young people across the state of California. THE HOME DEPOT CENTER & CSUDH PRESENT ENTERTAINMENT SYMPOSIUM: The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation and California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) have teamed up to present the inaugural \"Music, Movies and More Symposium\" on Friday, June 26. The unique program will feature three afternoon sessions with professionals from the entertainment industry, including Grammy-award winning audio engineer, studio designer and author Dave Hampton, DJ Spinderella of Salt-n-Pepa, 38-year music industry veteran and Grammy-nominated Kashif, plus several others. The free symposium, held from noon to 4:30 p.m. on the campus of CSUDH, will introduce college and high school students to some of the most powerful people in the entertainment industry - both on-stage and behind-the-scenes - and educate them on the future of the industry. The symposium is free and limited to 300 people, and registration is being accepted online now at www.homedepotcenter.com . Proceeds from the event will go toward three scholarships that will be awarded to CSUDH students headed into the entertainment industry, sponsored by Win Win Global. Two of the scholarships will be given to students who have distinguished themselves academically, and the third will be awarded to a student with promise who will benefit from financial assistance.
