CIF STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP BOWL GAMES CLOSE OUT HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IN DECEMBER; DE LA SALLE TO PLAY CRENSHAW IN OPEN DIVISION ON SATURDAY NIGHT: The California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) will crown high school football state champions this Friday-Saturday, December 18-19 at The Home Depot Center. A team from Northern California will face a team from Southern California in each of five divisions; based on school enrollment. Games times on Friday are 4 p.m. (Small Schools: Modesto Christian vs. Francis Parker, San Diego); and 8 p.m. (Division I: Bellarmine Prep, San Jose vs. Oceanside). Saturday's schedule is noon (Division III: Marin Catholic, Kentfield vs. Serra, Gardena), 4 p.m. (Division II: Rocklin vs. Servite, Anaheim); and 8 p.m. (Open Division: De La Salle, Concord vs. Crenshaw, Los Angeles). Tickets for the Bowl Games are $15 for adults and $8 for high school students (with ASB card), children and seniors. A separate ticket is required for each day. All seats are general admission. Tickets can be purchased at The Home Depot Center Box Office, Ticketmaster outlets or www.ticketmaster.com . Other game-day events include the UCA/UDA State High School Cheerleading and Dance Championships and the CIF/NIKE Football Coaches Clinic. INTERLIGA RETURNS IN JANUARY: The seventh edition of InterLiga returns to The Home Depot Center shortly after the New Year holiday, on Jan. 9, 10 and 13. Group A includes Santos, Atlante, Club America and Estudiantes Tecos, who will play on Sat., Jan. 9. The next day, on Sun., Jan. 10, Group B action will feature Puebla, Tigres, Monterrey and Jaguares. The finals will be played on Wed., Jan. 13 at The Home Depot Center. InterLiga 2010 will determine the Mexican club berths for the prestigious Copa Libertadores, which begins at the end of January 2010. U.S. MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM TO TAKE ON HONDURAS IN JANUARY: The U.S. Men's National Team will conclude its annual January training camp, and first of the year, at The Home Depot Center with a match against CONCACAF foe and fellow World Cup finalist Honduras on Jan. 23 at 6:00 p.m. The match will kick off an exciting year of soccer as the team focuses on their upcoming participation in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After a busy 2009 that saw the U.S. team advance to its first FIFA Tournament Final in the FIFA Confederations Cup, as well as finish top of CONCACAF in World Cup qualifying, the match on Jan. 23 will provide a stern if familiar test for the United States. The team faced Honduras four times in 2009, and earned a record of 4-0-0 against the Central American nation. U.S. WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM UPDATE: December and January will be busy months for the U.S. Women's National Team at The Home Depot Center as U.S. Head Coach Pia Sundhage will hold lengthy training camps to end and start the year. The U.S. women brought 24 players to Carson, and closed out their camp this week. The January camp will run from Jan. 17-Feb. 5. The U.S. Under-23 Women's National Teams will also have training camps in December and January, the first overlapping a few days with the WNT this week. The U-23s will also be in camp from Jan. 13-20, overlapping with the WNT for four days. The U.S. U-18 Women's National Team will also conduct a training camp that overlaps with the U-23s, running from Jan. 10-17. LA GALAXY TO HOST HOLIDAY SOCCER CAMPS: The Western Conference Champion LA Galaxy will receive some much deserved rest in the months of December and January as the club closes the book on 2009 and begins to look ahead to 2010. The players will be off for the entire month of December and much of January before beginning preseason training toward the end of the month. The coaching staff, however, will remain busy throughout the winter break, with the MLS Combine taking place in early January, followed by the 2010 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia on January 14. The club will also hold a number of Holiday Soccer Camps throughout the Southland from December 20-30. Click here to learn more about these camps and to register. The Galaxy will kick off the 2010 MLS season on Saturday, March 27 when they host the New England Revolution at The Home Depot Center. USA NATIONAL AND CANADIAN NATIONAL TEAMS TRAIN IN CARSON: Members of the USA Cycling National Team and Canadian Cycling National Team will be training at The Home Depot Center Velodrome throughout December and January. Both teams are preparing for the next World Cup in Beijing, China (Jan. 22-24, 2010). Canadian riders will challenge the U.S. in the opening bike race of 2010, Jan. 9 and 10 at The Home Depot Center. In other cycling news, Home Depot Center trainee and USA National Team rider Sarah Hammer is now training for the World Championships (in March in Poland) at the International Cycling Center in Switzerland and Taylor Phinney is training here for the Colombian World Cup. 'TIS THE SEASON: The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation is hosting a toy drive for the Marine Toys for Tots program for the fifth year. Unwrapped toys, valued at $4 or more, for children ages 2-13, are now being accepted through tomorrow - Wed., Dec. 16. The toys will be delivered to children in need in the city of Carson the weekend of Dec. 18.

MORE SOCCER IN JANUARY: Mia Hamm and Nomar Garciaparra will host their Celebrity Soccer Challenge on Sat. Jan. 16, benefiting Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and the Mia Hamm Foundation. Tickets are $20 for general admission and are available at www.homedepotcenter.com and at The Home Depot Center Box Office, open Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Proceeds benefit bone marrow patient and family services at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
