THE FUTURE OF SOCCER IS ON DISPLAY AS THE NATION'S TOP TEAMS RACE FOR THE 2004 COLLEGE CUP

CARSON, CA (November 29, 2004) - The NCAA Division I Men's Soccer tournament final eight has been set as teams are vying for the right to compete at the 2004 NCAA Men's College Cup on December 10 and 12 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

UC Santa Barbara will make their first appearance in the quarterfinals when they host Virginia Commonwealth University this Saturday, December 4.  Defending College Cup champion Indiana University remains the highest remaining seed (No. 2) in the NCAA Tournament following No. 1 Wake Forest's exit in the third round.  Also advancing to the quarterfinals and competing this weekend are the University of Maryland, University of Virginia, Duke University, St. John's University and the University of Tulsa. 

Four of the teams that have advanced to the quarterfinals have players from Southern California.  UCSB has the following nine players from Southern California on their squad: Kyle Reynish (Valencia/Hart HS), Dan Kennedy (Yorba Linda/El Dorado HS), Drew McAthy (Huntington Beach/Huntington Beach HS), Efren Mata (Cerritos/Cerritos HS), Jonathan Davis (Los Angeles/Westchester HS), Tino Nunez (Long Beach/Millikan HS), Brennan Tennelle (San Diego/Scripps Ranch HS),
Chuck Anderson (Encinitas/La Costa Canyon HS) and Ivan Becerra (Los Angeles/San Fernando HS).  Three other Southern California products -- Maurice Edu of the University of Maryland (Fontana/Etiwanda HS), Joe Villanueva of the University of Virginia (San Marino/Poly HS) and Tim Jepson of Duke University (Yorba Linda/Esperanza HS) -- will also be involved in this weekend's final-eight action.

Individual tickets for the Semi-Finals on December 10 and the Final on December 12 are currently on sale and start at only $15 per ticket.  Fans can save by purchasing a Two-Day Pass, which starts at only $20.  Tickets can be purchased now at The Home Depot Center Box Office, through TicketMaster outlets, by calling 866-LA-GROUP or visiting www.aeggrouptickets.com.  UCLA serves as the host institution and partner with AEG for the 2004 College Cup.

The semi-final games for the tournament are scheduled to take place on Friday, December 10, at 5 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m.  The Championship Game will take place on Sunday, December 12, at 1 p.m.
