International Friendly against 14-Time Salvadoran Champion Will Serve As Galaxy's Final Tune-Up Prior to 2010 MLS Season Opener

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, February 19, 2010) - The LA Galaxy announced today that the club will host Club Deportivo Águila in an international friendly on Sunday, March 21 at The Home Depot Center. The match will serve as the Galaxy's final tune-up prior to the club's 2010 MLS season opener against New England just six days later. C.D. Águila is one of El Salvador's oldest and most storied clubs. Since being founded in 1926, Águila has established itself as a power in the Salvadoran First Division, capturing the league title on 14 occasions.

The game will kick-off at 5 p.m. and Galaxy full Season Ticket Holders will be able to use their Bonus Game A tickets for the match. Additionally, there will be a special pre-sale for all full season ticket holders beginning on Monday, Feb. 22 at 10 a.m. Tickets will then go on sale to the general public starting on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. with tickets starting at just $15 by calling 1-877-3GALAXY (342-5299) or by visiting www.lagalaxy.com and at all Ticketmaster locations.

\"Águila are one of the best and most popular teams in El Salvador and we feel that they will provide a difficult challenge for our team while also attracting the extensive Salvadoran fan base throughout the Southland,\" said LA Galaxy President of Business Operations Tom Payne. \"The most important aspects of this game are that it will give our fans a chance to see our team play against an entertaining and quality opponent, and it also gives our team one final chance to prepare for our season opener against New England.\"

Led by forward Rudis Corrales and goalkeeper Miguel Ángel Montes, both starters on the El Salvador National Team, Águila is off to an impressive 4-0-2 start to the 2009/2010 Clausura Season. The club heads into this weekend's National Derby, or ClÁsico Nacional, against rival C.D. FAS as the overall leader in the Salvadoran First Division table with 14 points, two points ahead of L.A. Firpo and Isidro Metapán, who account for the club's only two draws of the season. The derby is a rematch of the 2009/2010 Apertura Season final, which FAS won 3-2.

Other key contributors for Águila this season have been defender Deris Umanzor and midfielder William Torres. A member of the El Salvador National Team, Umanzor is part of a defense that has posted four shutouts and has only allowed just three goals this season, both league highs. Meanwhile Torres, a veteran midfielder who played nine times for El Salvador during qualification for the 2010 World Cup, has scored a team-best three goals this season.

Águila are managed by Nelson Ancheta, who's in his first season with the club after taking charge last December. The 46-year-old Salvadoran has coached four other teams in the Salvadoran First Division, including FAS in 2007 and 2008.

The Galaxy will kick off the 2010 MLS season on Saturday, March 27 when they host the New England Revolution at The Home Depot Center. This game kicks off at 8 p.m. and fans can purchase tickets now through a special LA Galaxy Kickoff Pack.
