Summary and Notes:

This is Elena Dementieva's first singles win at the JPMorgan Chase Open finals.  Dementieva becomes the first Russian born tennis player to capture the JPMorgan Chase Open singles title.

This is the 11th time since the tournament was founded in 1971 that the singles final advanced to three sets and the first time since 2003 when Kim Clijsters defeated Lindsay Davenport 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.

Of the 12 times the finals have advanced to three sets, including this afternoon, the champion won the first set five times.  The other four were Clijsters in 2003, Monica Seles in 1990 (vs. Navratilova), Chris Evert in 1977 (vs. Navratilova) and Evonne Goolagong in 1976 (vs. Evert).

There were no aces registered during today's, three set, 2:23 match.

This is only the second time since 1996 that either Serena Williams or Lindsay Davenport have not played in the JPMorgan Chase Open singles final.  Last year was the first time when Kim Clijsters defeated Daniela Hantuchova.

This is the first final that Jelena Jankovic has reached this year.  The last time she reached a final was in 2005 (Dubai).  It is also the fourth final she has reached in her career.

Dementieva and Jankovic split in the two previous times they have met in their careers, both in 2004.  Jankovic won the first ever meeting at the Australian Open and Dementieva registered a victory at New Haven.  In both matches, the winner registered a 6-1, 6-4 victory.

The total attendance for the tournament was 53,914 and today's attendance total was 6,719.
