ALLYSON FELIX, TYSON GAY TO HIGHLIGHT ADIDAS TRACK CLASSIC

CARSON, Calif. (April 4) - American sprint sensations Allyson Felix and Tyson Gay, both sure to be in the gold-medal hunt at the 2008 Olympics, are the first athletes set for the 2007 adidas Track Classic on May 20, organizers announced today.

The adidas Track Classic will begin at noon PT on May 20 at The Home Depot Center, on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, and will be broadcast live on ESPN from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. PDT. (4 p.m.-6 p.m. EDT).

Felix, 21, is among the biggest prep track stars in California history, and became the first track-and-field athlete to turn professional straight out of high school. A five-time California state champion while at Los Angeles Baptist High School, Felix still lives and trains in Los Angeles. She set the World Junior Record at 200 meters and won an Olympic silver medal in 2004, when she was just 18, and the next year was crowned 200-meter World Champion. Ranked #1 in the world last year at 200 meters by Track & Field News magazine, she was also #6 in the world at 100 meters. She will run the 200 here.

Gay, the 2004 NCAA 100-meter champion out of the University of Arkansas, last season demonstrated why he is fast becoming the most exciting sprinter in the sport. With his 100-meter time of 9.84 and his 200-meter mark of 19.68, the 24-year-old sprinted into the record books as the fastest 100m-200m combo runner in history. He finished his breakthrough year by winning the World Cup 100 meters and World Athletics Final 200 meters, and enters the 2007 season ranked #1 in the world at 200 and #2 at 100. At the adidas Track Classic, he will run the 100.

Dozens more Olympic and World Championship medalists will be announced soon.
