LA Galaxy have announced dates for open tryouts for their young professional team, LA Galaxy II, in an effort to expand their recruiting pool and discover players for the 2017 USL season.

“We are excited to see new players and have organized this event to expand our talent identification efforts,” said LA Galaxy II Head Coach Curt Onalfo. “We want to find young talent who can enter our organization through Galaxy II, then work their way up to the first team.  Scouting for Galaxy II gives us a chance to evaluate many different players: hidden gems that may not have agents, players without a fair chance in the past, first time pros, or young pros who are not under contract.  We want to make sure that everyone has a fair opportunity to be evaluated for a chance to earn a professional contract on our 2017 LA Galaxy II roster."

The technical staff will choose a minimum of 15 total participants from the open tryouts in Los Angeles and Las Vegas for further evaluation. The LA Galaxy will arrange an invitation, flight, hotel and food for the 15 chosen players, who will train with LA Galaxy coaches from February 6-10, 2017.  LA Galaxy will select players from that week of training to extend their trials with LA Galaxy II, for a chance to earn a professional contract.

Here are details about the LA Galaxy II Open Tryouts:

Participants must be male and 17-25 years old.
Each participant is guaranteed (2) 60-minute, full-field soccer games to impress the LA Galaxy coaching staff.
The registration fee for (1) open tryouts event is $185.
In addition to the registration fee of $185, participants are responsible for all airfare, incurred travel costs, accommodation costs, food and transportation to participate in the open tryouts.  Also note that LA Galaxy II will not help with Visas or letters of invitation to the open tryouts.
Players must come prepared for the tryouts with their own cleats, socks, gloves, shin guards or any other equipment related to their position.
LA Galaxy II will provide (2) numbered t-shirts to wear during your games.
Teams will be constructed randomly according to players’ preferred positions.
Your kickoff times will be emailed to you prior to the start of the open tryout weekend, after teams are constructed.
No refunds will be issued for any reason.
