Music, Movies, and More Symposium

Leading names in the music and movie industry delivered inspirational remarks during the City of Carson, The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation, and California State University, Dominguez Hills Annual Youth Conference on April 14, 2012.

Among the industry panel was television actor, Sharif Atkins, best known for his role as Dr. Michael Gallant on ER and for his role as Jones, on White Collar, Chelsea Tavares (ABC Family Hit "Make it or Break it") Singer/Songwriter Vicci Martinez (The Voice), Zabrina Horton (BET), Pat Shields (Black Dot LLC), Linda Jones (The Mass Appeal), Lisa Bregman (LA Galaxy), Lisa Chamblee-Hampton (Black Fox Entertainment), and DJ Icy Ice (Power 106) spoke at this year's conference.

The Youth Conference took place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at California State University, Dominguez Hills in Carson and concluded with a dinner and teen fun night from 6 to 9 p.m. at Stevenson Park. Hundreds of Carson youth exchanged views and address key issues faced by young people. The conference featured workshops, special guest speakers, raffle, music and video games.

The free Youth Conference is an annual project of the City of Carson Youth Commission which draws big participation from the city's various ethnic communities each year. This year's conference was combined with the The Home Depot Center Charitable Foundation and California State University, Dominguez Hills Annual Music, Movies and More Symposium.
